Orly: Charged Up + Essie: Stroke of Brilliance

Hey y'all! So I'm working all week, which is not normal for me. I'm not exactly sure how I feel about it, because it's my last week before I start to the University of Memphis. Kinda freakin out a little! I have Saturday off, though, and I'm pretty happy about that. So today I want to post a polish that makes me happy! I forget about the brand Orly. I hardly ever see new collections in stores because I don't shop where they're sold that often. But I have Charged Up, a bright purple that has an almost jelly-type consistency. I have always loved this. And Stroke of Brilliance just happened to be sitting out on my desk waiting to be used... so guess what... I put it on my ring finger as an accent. Check it out!

Charged Up requires three coats because the first two leave a lot of visible brush strokes and bald spots. But that third coat really makes it what it is. I love this purple! I just think it works really well with my skin tone, but actually, I think it would work with most skin tones. I've worn it at least a thousand times and I just never get tired of it. However, after we moved back to TN, I think I kinda forgot I had it. I forget about a lot of the polishes I have, oops! I also really liked Stroke of Brilliance on top of this. I feel like it just works. Although I do think it would pop more on a different shade.

What do y'all think of this combo? Have you used Stoke of Brilliance? If so, how did you use it? Do you have Charged Up? What do you think of it?

Orly: Fowl Play

Hey y'all! It's been a while since I updated, but I've had the most gorgeous polish on my nails! I'm so sad it's starting to chip, which is why I couldn't put my index fingers in these pictures. Fowl Play is so amazing! It's a dark purple base with different colored flakes. I've seen some green and blue flakes in certain lighting. Y'all will mostly see gold/orange flakes, though. I'm sure most of y'all know all the hype surrounding this shade. I'd say it definitely lived up to the hype. I was just excited to find it! So take a look! :)

I actually got my nails done with this at the nail salon. I wanted my nails to look as perfect as possible. I mean... such a gorgeous polish deserves to look perfect, right?!? It did need three coats. It was still a little sheer with two. That meant that it took a little longer to dry, but it really wasn't that bad.

Sinful Colors has some awesome glitters if y'all ever get the chance to check those out. And they're only $1.99, so they're a great inexpensive option! I think my favorite glitters are Pinata Yada Yada, Glitz, and Green Ocean. But I like all of them. They're a lot of fun to wear, and as y'all can probably tell... I've used up a lot of them. For a while I was all about adding glitter to every single mani. I'm not as into that as I used to be, but I'm starting to like the glitter accent nail. But that's *such* a pain to remove. Oh well! What are y'all's favorites?

I know a lot of these look black, but I promise y'all they're purple! Also, Daddy's Girl (Sinful Colors- #13) looks blue, but it is purple. It doesn't photograph very well. And I'm calling Borghese-Stellare Notte purple because, to me, it is. It flashes a lot of different colors, but I mostly see purple. What are y'all's favorites? I'm loving Chi Behind Closed Doors and Nars Tokaido Express. I think I'll get a lot of wear out of those this fall.

Prince Charming

Here is Orly~ Prince Charming. :)

I'm pretty sure all ya'll have seen this color before, but I've been meaning to swatch it for some time now. I really like to wear browns in the Fall, and this is one I will be wearing this Fall. :) It's kind of a mushroom brown. It's not pure brown, basically. It's just different. And it's the only color in my collection that is like that. It is unique for me. :) Could I have said that more? Probably.

I'm not really sure what else to say about this. Application was okay. The first coat was really weird, and it looked like it would never build to the bottle color. The second coat looked better, and it was just right at three coats. I have a few Orly's in my collection, and I just wonder when I am going to find one that has a formula I actually like. They all seem really thick and have a long drying time. Do any of ya'll know what I'm talking about? Don't get me wrong, Orly is a great brand... but I think some things could be improved. Mainly just the drying time. The thickness can be fixed on my part. And some of my Orly's are kind of old.

Well anyway, I hope all ya'll are doing great. :) Let me know what ya'll think of this color.

Terra Mauve

Okay, so this was also on my list of polishes to show ya'll. It's a really quick and messy swatch...

This is Orly~ Terra Mauve. I think this color works for the holidays as well as every day. My bottle is kind of old but the polish still applies like a dream. However, this is an older Orly so you can really smell the chemicals. Anyway, you need about three coats to get the color you see in the picture.
