My Summer Make Up

I got my nails done before I left for Florida, and I'm waiting until I can't stand looking at it anymore to take it off. So that leaves me very few things to post about, but I'm trying my best! I came up with this idea back in the beginning of the summer and never got around to actually putting the post together. Anyway, I love make up and I'm always trying out new things. In the summer, though, I like light make up that doesn't feel like too much. So these are the things I use the most in the summer, but sometimes I skip around and just wear a little mineral foundation and mascara. It all depends on my mood. :)
1. E.L.F. Oil Blotting Sheets. These rock. I don't use them too much, but in the summer they really make a difference. These are also good because they're only $1 at Target. It doesn't get much better than that!
2. Purpose Moisture Lotion SPF 15. I use this a lot because it's really light and just feels good on your face.
3. Hard Candy Undercover Agent (under eye brightener and concealer duo). I really just use the concealer because I don't think I need the under eye brightener.

4. Neutrogena Liquid Make Up in Natural Ivory. Love Neutrogena! It's really gentle and has always worked well with my skin. Plus it's SPF 20 so that's always good!
5. Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation in Buff. It's one shade darker than the liquid make up. I just like to top everything off with a little powder. But sometimes I'll just do this without using the liquid. It's easier that way. And it's also SPF 20.
6. Maybelline Dream Mousse Blush in Soft Plum. I like this because it's really light and airy. It lasts a long time and just looks good.
7. Neutrogena Nourishing Eye Liner in Cosmic Black. I usually put this on my top lash line. I have always worn it on the bottom, but this summer I've changed it up a bit. I also used to use brown all the time, but now I'm using black. I don't know what made me change!
8. Maybelline The Colossal Volum' Express Mascara. I love this stuff! It has a huge brush that grabs all of your lashes perfectly. I really like to wear this on my bottom lashes and the Falsies on the top. But I switch it up sometimes.
9. Softlips Stawberry SPF 20. I really love this stuff. It has a little bit of a menthol thing to it, so it feels good and helps heal chapped lips.
10. Neutrogena Ultra Soft Eye Makeup Remover Pads. These things are great! Expensive... but great. I'm really a fan of anything Neutrogena puts out. Oh and I don't just use these in the summer, I use them all the time. It's just an all around good product to have. :)

So that's what I use in the summer! I use mostly drug store stuff, because I'm cheap. Can y'all tell? ha! What do y'all use? Who else is a fan of light summer makeup? Thanks for reading! :)

Florida 2011

Hey y'all! Time to share some pictures from our trip to Jacksonville and St. Augustine! :)

This is my Mama & me on Crescent Beach. That is probably the best beach in the Jax area. I highly suggest making the trip to that beach if you're in the area. We all got really sunburned, and my sunburn is still visible and quite painful. Oh well! I had fun. :)

These are pictures of my first highschool, Allen D. Nease. I hated it so much, but it's still part of my past. I couldn't get good pics of the actual school because it's fenced off during the summer. But it's ALL outdoors. There are no indoor hallways, so when it rains you get wet and when it's hot (like always!) you sweat. I couldn't stand that. And coming from Tennessee, this was so weird. ha! Our mascot was a panther and our colors were green and gold- not my favorite. ;)
And this is my second highschool, Bartram Trail. The BEST school ever! I missed it terribly during my senior year. We were a school full of country kids, and it was more my pace. I had tons of good times! The football games were the best part. Our mascot was a bear and our colors were black and blue. Everything seemed to be better there. I'm so glad I got to spend my sophomore and junior years there. This was also fenced off, so I couldn't get the best pic. But it's much nicer (and newer!) than Nease. :)
Cruisin down the A1A! Props to anyone who knows what song that came from. :)

These are all pics from Alpine Groves Park. It's so pretty! Huge trees with Spanish moss hanging from every branch. And you can look out onto the St. Johns River. :)
Boats on the Intracoastal Waterway. :)

These two pictures are of the Bridge of Lions in downtown St. Augustine. The bridge takes you over the Intracoastal, and it's a drawbridge... it's really fun to go over. :)
Crescent Beach! My sister is one of those three out there... the other two are her friends. You can go sooo far out and still be able to stand up with no problem. It was really fun. :)
This is the fort in downtown St. Aug. It's a major tourist attraction, so there are always tons of people. :)
This is on the way to the Alligator Farm. If y'all are ever in the area, you need to check out the Alligator Farm! It sounds kinda stupid, but it's really fun! You'll be really surprised. :)

These two are of the Intracoastal. :)
This is the lighthouse in St. Aug. I was surprised I actually got a decent picture of this. :)
Ahh... palms. :)
This is the Showboat Carwash... Florida likes to use reclaimed water in their carwashes. Just a fair warning... :)
And more of the Intracoastal!

I had such a great time and I wish I could have stayed longer. Actually, I wish I didn't have to come back to TN. Jacksonville and St. Augustine have more to offer than people think. But that's fine! Y'all just keep going to the gulf coast and I'll just keep on loving the Salt Life over in Jax! :)

Time For Me to Vent

I know that this blog revolves around nail polish, and that's not changing. But sometimes I feel like I really need to let things out. I find it a lot easier to write about it. Since I have a blog, I think that's better than making some sad, depressing status on facebook.
I have SO enjoyed my time in Jacksonville, and I can't tell y'all how much I missed it. Driving down the main road in my community brought back a flood of memories. I never thought that I would enjoy this state as much as I did, but I am SO glad that I spent three amazing years down here. I began high school here, and it was a ROUGH start. By the end of my freshman year I was ready to head back up to Tennessee to be back with all my family and friends. I got to switch schools after my freshman year because of a zoning change, and for that I am super grateful! I loved my next high school. It was the best experience, and it made me realize that high school really isn't that bad. I met some of the best people, and even though some relationships didn't go the way anyone would want, the memories will never change and will never be forgotten. So that's what this trip brought back. All the memories and all the good times. Three years being spent away from family was hard, but it pushes you to make friends that seem like family because they are so close. Getting to see those people on this trip was so great. Seeing old friends, and boyfriends, was hard but worth every minute.
It's really really hard to focus on only the good. That's what I'm trying to do, but I just think about how hard it's going to be to leave. It was hard enough the first time, and it'll be just as hard this time around. What I have a hard time thinking about is that a place is what you make of it. I made Jacksonville a really great place. Making Memphis a great place is another story. I honestly feel like I've gotten everything out of that city that I can. I lived there many years when I was younger, and now I'm back. I've finished high school. I'm moving on. But I feel like the only thing keeping me in Memphis is the college classes that I'm beginning in the fall. I don't feel like I got everything I could out of Jacksonville. And that's why it's incredibly difficult to come back here. I couldn't not come back, though. That's not even an option. I always knew I would come back, and I know I'll continue to come back and visit. And hopefully for a longer period of time than three days. I'm very thankful that we were able to make this trip. It was worth every minute spent in the car, in traffic, stopping for gas and food. The 13 hour trip was worth it. I just can't help feeling sad that I have to leave.
So my question is, does anyone have a similar situation? I wish I knew more people that I could relate to that are going through/have gone through this situation. It's so difficult. I know my Mom feels sort of the same way, but my sister is another story. I love her to death, but she is making me crazy. She just keeps talking about how she wants to go "home." She even said it was because she had a "significant other" in Memphis. I just don't feel the same way as she does, so I'm trying to distance myself from her and realize that we all feel differently. And we have different ways of expressing everything. I just wanted to know if anyone else had any idea where I'm coming from? I guess this is life!
If y'all have stuck with me this long, thank you for reading. I know this is nothing interesting to y'all and it definitely has nothing to do with the main topic of this blog, and I'm sorry for that. I'll have pictures from the trip up soon, and then nail related things.
On a happier note, I hope all of my American readers have had a great Fourth of July! I did get to see a few fireworks, and that was all I really needed to see. So far I've spent, at least, the last three Fourth of Julys here in Jacksonville. I love how that worked out! :)

Happy Fourth of July!

I wore this last year for the Fourth of July, and this year I'm sporting some pink/orange nails... so that's not real festive. This is also a Borghese that was EXTREMELY marked down. Like to a dollar. :) Borghese: Venetian Red...

So what are y'all doing for the 4th? Isn't it weird having it on a Monday? I think it feels so weird! I hope y'all are all enjoying your day!

Thanks for reading! :)

Match This for Me!

So y'all should know something about me... I'm totally addicted to Vitamin Water... but mostly the dragonfruit flavor. And I absolutely LOVE the color of it! It's like the perfect hot pink. I really wish I could find a nail polish that could match this perfectly. But a polish that has a jelly finish? Is that too much to ask?! So do y'all know of anything that could match this?
This is the closest thing I think I have. But it's definitely not the perfect match I wish I could find! And it's not a jelly... just a plain creme.

So help me! Suggestions on colors? Let me know!

Thanks for reading! :)

Signed, Sealed & Delivered!

I got such good responses on my comparisons nail wheel, so I thought I'd re-post one of my favorite purples! This is 10 - Signed, Sealed, & Delivered. :)

These pics are back from when I lived in Florida. It's so hard to look at these pics and not feel a little sad. Ahh. I miss that house! :( Anyway! This purple is gorgeousss! I love how the shimmer stands out SO much in the sun. I also really like these 10 polishes. They have a decent formula and color selection. I only have two bottles, but I love them both! I think I kinda got this one because I liked the name, but the color really makes it even better! So do y'all like it? Does anyone else have any 10 polishes?

Thanks for reading! :)
