Maybelline: Cool Couture

Hey y'all, Happy Tuesday! I really should be studying for a Spanish test right now, but this sounded like it would be more fun. And I think I'm right. So Maybelline came out with some awesome polishes for Fall! I haven't seen anything really exciting from them in a while, so this new collection was quite a surprise. I instantly fell in love with Cool Couture just from seeing pictures of it. I think it's so gorgeous and unique to my collection. It's kind of a dark grey base with some blue and green shimmer. Take a look!

The shade is just gorgeous! I needed three coats, but, to me, that's normal. The formula? Eh. I know it could have been better, but I wasn't expecting anything fantastic. It was a little runny and I got some cuticle flooding. I had to start the whole swatching process over again because of the flooding, actually. Not cool. But once I got a hang of how the polish was applying, it was fine! I really love Maybelline. I have tons of polish from the brand and I love them all! This is no exception, besides the janky formula. I didn't pick up any other colors from the collection, but some of them were really interesting! I've kinda put myself on a no-buy for the time being, so this will have to be the only color I pick up.

Bubble Pink

This is a color I bought with Goody Plum Drop. Around Easter/Spring, I tend to go for light pinks and girly colors. So, this is Maybelline New York Express Finish~ Bubble Pink.

Though I love this color, I wasn't in love with its application. The polish was pretty thin and water-y. Not so fun to apply. The first coat looks like the color will never build... but about three coats and you get the finish you see in the pictures. Usually Maybelline's are great. I'm thinking my bottle might just be messed up. Regardless of the problems I had, I love the color and I think it's perfect for Spring and Summer. :)

Goody Plum Drop

This is Maybelline New York Express Finish~ Goody Plum Drop. I've seen this color on other nail blogs, so this probably won't be new to any of ya'll. It's still a pretty one, though. :)

I bought this one around Easter to have something Springy on my nails. I don't think this color looks too great on me, but it's still fun. I did three coats of this, and the application was great. Maybelline's are usually pretty good, anyway. :) There is actually a lot of shimmer to this one. I like it. :) What do ya'll think?

Random Colors

Hey ya'll. Just wanted to post some random pictures of nail polish. However, most of these pictures are of pink polish. There is one exception... but most of them are pink. Anyway, read on for more details on the polish. BTW~ Most of these I did up right by using a top coat. :)

Sally Hansen~ Tender Mulberry. This color was very easy to apply and I think the color will suit most everyone. Very pretty. Two coats. :)

Sally Hansen~ Beautiful Berry. This one looks more red in the pictures than it actually is. It's not as bright. But, it's another pretty one. 3 coats, easy application. :)

Sally Hansen~ Calming Cocoa. This is the exception to all the pink polish. lol. Obviously this one is more of a brown. Cocoa is the appropriate name. 3 coats, great application. :)

Nat Robbins~ Sea Shell. I've had this polish for quite a long time, and it still applies quite well. I used three coats. :)

Jessica~ Juicy. I love this color. One of my favorites. It's a bubble gum pink. And, it applies like a dream!! :) You can use two coats, but I used three. :)

Wet n' Wild~ Frosted Fuchsia. This is one you could almost do with one coat, but I used two just out of the force of habit. lol! It flashes blue in certain lighting. :)

Maybelline New York Express Finish~ Sunset Prisms. This is another one I've had for a while. Still applies great... but it's just a little runny. I used three coats. :)

N.Y.C. ~ 108A. This is one that doesn't have a name. But, I'm pretty sure that it's called "Polyester Pink" now. I got this one before they started getting names. It's a little old, and it's running VERY thick. That made it a little hard to apply. I used three coats. But there is still visible nail line... so four coats is almost necessary.

Maybelline~ Rhinestone Pink. This is one of the "Wet Shine Diamonds" polishes. My bottle is almost empty and it is running quite thick. I used two coats. But, I almost needed three.

Sally Hansen Salon~ Pardon My French. This is obviously used more for French Manicures. But, I like the look of it when it's just solid color. It was pretty hard to apply, but I used three coats. 

That's all I have for ya'll now. I'm almost running out of polishes to show ya'll. LOL. jk... I don't think I will EVER run out.

Some Blues Ya'll Haven't Seen

Hey ya'll. I wanted to share with ya'll my love of blue nail polish! For some reason, I am loving anything blue. And, I especially want to wear it on my nails! I have shown ya'll most of the blues in my collection, but here are the others I have. I'm sure I will have more here soon! haha

This is Pure Ice~ "A" List. I just recently purchased this one. It's a metallic blue. I used three coats and had no issues with application. It went on pretty smoothly. 

This is Tropez~ Shy. Another metallic blue. This one is a bit of a darker blue than the one above. I have had this one for a long time, so it's on the thick side. I used three coats here, as well.

Here is Essie~ Sag Harbor. I just need Greenport to complete the collection! This is almost like a gray/blue color. Very pretty. I used two quite thick coats just so I didn’t have to use three coats. If you use thinner coats, then you will most likely be using three coats. (Yes, I could say the word "coats" many more times.)

Here's China Glaze~ For Audrey. A lot of nail bloggers have this color. It is quite a popular China Glaze polish. I used two quite thick coats here, as well. If you are using thin coats, you will definitely need three. I guess this is what you would call a "Tiffany blue," but I've seen and heard on other nail blogs that there are other colors closer to "Tiffany blue" than this one. I honestly have no clue. lol!

Here is Maybelline New York Express Finish~ Aqua Electric. I think this is a fairly new one. I hadn't seen it before until the other day. Kind of a blue jelly with glitter in it. I used three coats. No application troubles.

This is L.A. Colors~ Static Electricity. It's a much deeper blue in real life. I couldn't capture that on camera. I used two coats, because it is quite pigmented. Very good application.

And, last but not least is N.Y.C.~ Skin Tight Denim Crème. You may recognize this from my Fourth of July nails. I used two coats here and application was pretty good. This is one that is also very pigmented.

Go Go Green

Good Evening. Today I have Maybelline New York Express Finish- Go Go Green. This is a really pretty shimmery green. I think it complemented my skin tone quite well, but I could be wrong about that. I had no problems with the application, and it dried fairly quickly. It took two coats in these pictures, but you could almost use three.

Fuchsia Flash

I just can't seem to take ANY good pictures. But, I think you get to see the color okay without enlarging. Anyway, this is Maybelline New York Express Finish- Fuchsia Flash. It definitely is a FLASH! I don't know if you can tell at all from the picture, but when I looked down at my nails, I got a flash of blue. It's a quite interesting color... but the application was a little difficult. The polish was very water-y... so it needed about 3 coats, although I probably could have gotten away with a little less had it not been so water-y. I need tips on how to fix water-y polishes!

Cocoa Motion

Good Evening.

Today I have a really bad picture for ya'll. This is one I took a while back, and one of the last ones I haven't posted yet. It's still raining... so I haven't been able to swatch anything. Oh well... I hope the rain goes away soon.

So, this is Maybelline New York Express Finish- Cocoa Motion. This is a very nice reddish brown. It's a creme I think, but it is also very shiny. It kind of strikes me as a more "mature" color. I don't know, it just isn't super eye-catching... but it is still quite pretty. The application was fantastic, like all of my Maybelline's are. As far as I can remember this was about 2 coats, but it could use 3.
